The past days, or should I say weeks, haven’t been easy for me. I’ve been struggling a lot with overthinking, especially in the past days, and it feels like it’s reaching its peak at this very second I’m writing this. My head feels like it’s going to explode any minute, my thoughts are spiraling inside my head, and I feel so incredibly mentally exhausted. Still, I somehow can’t make it stop. Negative thoughts, worries, self-doubt.Does this sound familiar to you? Why where you live matters as an introvert (and HSP)

This probably doesn’t come to you as a surprise considering my website’s name (and on every other social media platform), but let me say it anyway: I’m german 🙂 And you might have already guessed it, I also live in Germany. More specifically, I live in the south of Germany, somewhere quite a bit outside of Bavaria’s biggest city Munich. And let me tell you, I’m so incredibly glad about the location I live in. Far away from the city, but also close enough that going to the city doesn’t take longer than an hour. (In case I need to be there for some reason.) Wow, 2020 will soon be over, and honestly, I can’t wait for the new year to begin. 2020 was a lot! Not only for me but for so many other people from all around the world. One of the things that are highly prioritized in our society is” productivity“. No matter if at home or work, getting the most done in the shortest time is the goal for many in most cases. It’s all about ticking the most off your to-do lists: to satisfy your boss, to give yourself the validation of being a hard-working and successful part of society, and to earn yourself your well deserved time off afterward. In a society that is extrovert-oriented and very achievement-focused, people who can’t finish their to-do lists very quickly are often seen as “lazy” and “unsuccessful” people. These things changed since I started to accept my introverted self

Accepting yourself for who you are – fully and to 100% – isn’t easy. It really doesn’t matter what type of personality you are, I think this is something we all struggle with. But growing up as an introvert in an environment that doesn’t want to support you for the quiet and withdrawn introverted person that you are, and instead puts all their efforts into making you change something about yourself that you can’t – is a whole different level of challenge. I think you can imagine that growing up like that wasn’t easy for me. Luckily, my family was, for the most part, very supportive, but my experience at school was different.
